Lovely rain

Sometimes rain is beautiful, and I've always been keen on umbrellas. Not so much carrying them, or even using them, but just the way they look. Funny creatures, umbrellas.

The Almost-Big Reveal

I've been vacant from the blog for a month, due to some travels but mainly working on my super-big-fabulous-secret-project. Today I wanted to do the "big reveal," but due to some internet follies and delayed inspiration (read: procrastination), the announcement whirlygig isn't quite ready.

There will be a video posted either tonight or early morning and I'll let that tell the story.  Right now, I'm dirty and dizzy (need a shower and some grub), so I bid you all adieu.

Dark and Lovely

It's not that I'm macabre, it's just there's something a little sexy about that guy's hairstyle. Methinks it's because it's rather similar to my own. While I enjoy gazing upon Professor McDreary, peruse some of the intoxicating raven finds I've assembled just for you. Hold the arsenic and pass the lace.

All's Fair, Now Well

I've thrown aside my meddling illness and adorned myself with the festive garb of the carnival worker. Yes, friends (and/or foes), I'll be working at the South Carolina State Fair part of next week. Don't worry, they're not letting me operate any heavy equipment. My gig is indoors...I think. I'll make sure to take photos and we'll all enjoy them for years to come. Perhaps I'll pen a song for my future children: "Mommy was a Carnie." All kidding aside, I am excited as I could use the funds and the fair is a big, big deal in these parts. In celebration, I present to you these fine finds from Etsy, all appropriately festive.

LEFT, TOP DOWN

1.  Farm Animal Counting Poster, $20, SmilesandSquiggles.  You can't have a state fair without livestock!
2.  6 Vintage Flower Dime Store Rings, $3, HeyYoYo.  You gotta be in it to win it!
3.  Tootie Fruitie Scarf, $45, HookedOnArt.  Don't forget to check out the lovely award winning crafts on display.

CENTER

1.  Maniacal Laughter, $10, Cance.  We meet again! The truth of the fair is that it can be a sinister place. I have no proof, of course, nothing obtained legally, but...watch your back, my little Cheeto. Fairs bring out creampuffs and crackpots, so play it safe. No lollys from strangers! Special thanks to Kelly of Cance for featuring me on her own fab blog, Cance Circle. She's quite the Etsy Vet and has a lovely menagerie of collages, drawings and jewelry. And clearly a girl who understands carnival things...

RIGHT, TOP DOWN

1.  CandyLand, $10, MyFineGarden. Oh, Ferris Wheel! You spin my head right 'round.
2.  Vintage Circus Carnival Tickets, $1.25, CapeHouseStudio. Tickets please!
3.  State Fair Ribbon Clutch Bag, $32, StateFair. Perhaps your giant pumpkin didn't land first place, but your handy Maybelline Great Lash mascara can get top billing in this kitsch clutch. After all, I always knew you were a winner.
